This may sound like a freakish selling technique, and most likely, many developers would find that it really is.
Irish investor PJ Doherty recently began to offer his clients a free apartment in Bulgaria, if they would purchase property in his development in Milford, a resort area in the northwest of Ireland, BBC reported.
PJ Doherty told the BBC that his whim worked well. He had a development of 44 units and last year he managed to sell 39. He could not sell any of the remaining five units for the last eight months.
Having constructed another development on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria, he decided to offer a bonus for potential buyers – buy one apartment in Ireland, get one free in Bulgaria.
The businessman figured that if people were looking for a holiday home anyway, they would most definitely consider having another one on the sunny Bulgarian beaches.
At the time BBC website published its article on September 10, Doherty was quoted as saying that he had already sold two of the five remaining apartments.
PJD Construction develops the Privacy Beach Resort, a four-star complex with fully- furnished 99 apartments, about 20 km from Varna near the village of Bliznatsi.
