The Build Green CEE conference, the first ever promoting business and economic opportunities through sustainable construction, pooled 200-odd participants in Bucharest, Romania, conference organiser SOPOLEC said in a statement.

Among attendants were realtors, architects, developers, technology suppliers, public officials and media representatives.

Among keynote speakers were representatives from mall operator Sonae Sierra, land leasing company Bovis Lend Lease, Europe-facing real estate development and management companies AIG Lincoln, DuPont, Philips and Lafarge, as well as public officials from Romania and the Czech Republic.

EcoNavitas, a green-building consultant, called for the set-up of a Romanian Green Building Council, a private sector-oriented association geared to develop “an efficient, competitive marketplace for green technologies, expertise, and materials to create the next generation of high performance green buildings," the statement reads.
