Several new constructions are in the pipeline for the grounds surrounding the Rila Monastery.
A new building will supervise the monastery's administration and a post office and police station will be erected near the church. Plans are also afoot for a pastry shop and various other retail outlets.
The new edifice will be located on the site of the century-old post office, which will be demolished, according to Standart daily. Completion of the project, financed by the state budget, is due within a year. The "facelift" plan envisages renovations inside the monastery walls and also in the old winter chapel of the Nativity of Christ. Flooring has already been thoroughly reconstructed.
