Shablas municipal council has granted land for the development of three golf courses, dobrichmedia.com reported. Construction has not started yet, as authorities are presently working out project details.
Chairman of the municipal council Zdravko Yordanov told journalists that the draft plan for the golf complex, which is to be located between the village of Tyulenovo and the Shabla lighthouse, is the one that is at the most advanced stage. It will be realised by Golf Shabla Jsc, which was set up in May 2007 with a share capital of 101 837 shares at a par value of 100 leva a piece as a joint venture between the city hall and Prouchvane i Dobiv na Neft i Gaz Jsc (PDNG, or Oil and Natural Gas Probing and Extraction). The latter owns 65 per cent in the joint enterprise. Shabla municipalitys contribution is in the form of land.
The complex will spread over a 140ha plot, 100ha of which are municipal property, the rest being provided by PDNG. According to authorities estimates, design and planning of the golf course will take two years and construction another four.
The other two compounds approved by the municipality are the projects of Litex Commerce Jsc and Rosinvest, which will also be realised through public-private partnerships. These golf courses will be constructed in the regions around the villages of Ezerets and Vaklino.
Shablas municipal council also agreed on the concept for the development of a yacht port near Tyulenovo, Yordanov said.
However, the successful outcome of these investment intentions hinges on the spatial plan amendment that is currently being discussed, and the final list of the areas to be included in the Natura 2000 network, yet to be pinpointed. Both of the above could affect the development of the three golf courses and the resort complexes nearby.
Another two golf villages are likely to be developed near Krapets and Dourankoulak, where Bulgaria Hold has purchased about 100ha, Yordanov said.
A modern golf establishment comprises several key elements: economic affordability for players, minimal maintenance costs, proximity to urban settlements and the availability of good transport infrastructure.
The plot destined for the Golf Shabla Jsc golf project has been conceptually divided into four zones.
The first one includes the standard 18-hole course, a clubhouse, an administrative building, a storeroom for the equipment, a service warehouse, the compulsory presence of a golf instructor and inventory such as buggies and carts.
The second zone is a golf training ground (50m wide and 150m long) and a clubhouse.
The third part of the complex envisages a mini golf-course with nine closely spaced holes, purposed for short games and practice.
The fourth component encompasses residential units, swimming pools, a hotel, garages and parking places.
